A Royal Caribbean Youth Counselor leads age-appropriate activities for children and teens (ages 3-17), ensures their safety and comfort, and acts as a positive role model. Responsibilities include organizing recreational, educational, and STEM-focused programs like those in the Camp at Sea program, supervising children during meals and rest periods, maintaining a clean and safe environment, communicating with parents, and assisting with various onboard events. The role requires strong communication skills, creativity, a vibrant and energetic personality, and often a degree in a relevant field with experience in youth management.
Key Responsibilities
Activity Facilitation:
Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of engaging and educational activities for different age groups, including art, culinary, recreation, and STEM-based programs.
Safety & Supervision:
Supervise children and teens, ensuring their safety and well-being during all activities, including evacuations in emergency situations.
Program Support:
Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces, maintain equipment, and help with registration and check-in processes.
Guest Relations:
Interact with guests, provide information about the youth program, and maintain a positive and professional demeanor, acting as a role model.
Parent Communication:
Tactfully and courteously communicate with parents to provide information, build comfort, and address any concerns.
Environmental Maintenance:
Help maintain a clean and tidy working environment, including the facilities used for youth activities.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
A degree in education, recreation, psychology, or a related field is often required.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience working with large groups of youth (ages 3-17) in camps, schools, or similar environments is preferred.
